I am Katya Koning, a Ukrainian artist based in Amsterdam. Once, when we lived in the Philippines my husband gave me an easel for Valentine's Day as he knew I wanted to paint but always had excuses. It was the beginning of my beautiful journey in art and expressing myself on a canvas. I had classes and trainings with famous filipino artists as well as painting in ateliers with other filipino and expat artists while living in Manila. There is no better feeling in creating something beautiful, pouring your heart on a canvas and then finding someone who will own that artwork with joy and happiness.

My favorite medium is oil but I have made some acrylic artworks as well. I like painting landscapes the most as it reflects another of my passions which is traveling. Painting landscapes is a way for me to travel in my dreams already before a trip that we've planned or not even planned yet or to preserve a memory of a trip that we have made. We were lucky enough to travel to many amazing places during past years and  I have created some beautiful and dear to my heart paintings that will always decorate walls in our home or somebody else's home.

Floral painting is also my favorite as I love viewing nature and its beautiful creations. Nature is the most incredible artist and the biggest inspiration for me. Floral painting is therefore the most enjoyable and relaxing therapy personally for me. I have been a big fan of floral art and not only in painting but I also make pressed floral and botanical art. I have lived in the Middle East desert as well as among tropical islands in the Pacific for the past 7 years and now I live in the Netherlands which is totally different kind of nature. But I just learnt to notice and appreciate the beauty of mother nature in all its glory and variety no matter which amazing part of the world it is. So it was my natural desire to preserve a memory of nature beauty by reflecting it on a canvas. 

Presented in this portfolio are my paintings dated  from 2017-2020. There are available original paintings for sale or we can agree on a  commissioned artwork of your choice if it makes both of us happy.
